Hello, my name is Osamakue Stephine Iroha - Izevbokun and I am the founder and community manager of Africans in Deutschland e.V. I wear many hats in life—I am a wife, a mother to four wonderful children, and a determined professional who believes in the power of resilience and self-development.
My Educational Journey
I began my academic career studying law at the University of Torino and later at the University of Münster. For about seven years, I immersed myself in legal studies, during which my personal life flourished. While pursuing my law degree, I had my first child. A few months later, I was blessed with twins. Balancing the demands of rigorous studies, a student job, and the responsibilities of a young family was challenging, but I persevered. My experience taught me that motherhood and education can coexist, and I hope to inspire other women to pursue their dreams regardless of their circumstances.
A Career Shift to Nursing
After completing my law studies and working for about a year, I decided to pivot my career and pursue nursing. This decision was driven by my passion for helping others and my desire to explore a fulfilling career path. I enrolled in a nursing school (Ausbildung), a three-year program that I began when all my children were under the age of three. Despite the challenges, I successfully completed the program and started working as a nurse in a hospital.
Continuing My Education
My journey didn’t stop there. I decided to pursue a nursing degree at a Fachhochschule (university of applied sciences). At the time, I had my fourth child, who was just a few months old. Today, I am just a few semesters away from earning my degree in nursing. This achievement underscores my belief that no dream is too big and no obstacle too great if you are determined to succeed.
Encouragement for Women in Deutschland
I share my story to encourage women living in Germany to invest in themselves and their futures. Germany offers countless opportunities for personal and professional growth, and I want women to know that they have all it takes to achieve their goals. Children should never be seen as an obstacle but rather as an inspiration to keep striving.
To every woman reading this, remember: you can do anything if you put your mind to it. Life may throw challenges your way, but with determination and the right support system, you can overcome them and thrive.
Let’s continue to uplift and inspire one another. Together, we can achieve greatness!
